Hi i finished mine a yr or so ago before they changed the way you do it. I had to go to college every monday night for a few hrs and it took almost 2 yrs to complete! It got to the point where i had enough and just wanted it finished, i think they have made it shorter and nocollege trips now is that right?
I am starting NVQ level 3 in march that is all done within your setting and alot less paperwork than when i did th DHC.

I have the DHC book if anyone needs one, open to any offers for it and can post out.

I couldnt have done it without the book all the things you need are in there, i got mine from amazon for £17.99. Ive now got to get the NVQ book Its never ending!
There was loads of confusion when i did mine as had not been out long and the tutor had never delivered it before i didnt get anything out of going to college to do it could have done it quite easy without going. There was also confusion over grading we were told initially that it was a pass or fail not grades but turned out that each assignment was graded and then an average taken for your final grade. Because we were told it was a pass fail then we just wanted it done so i suppose alot of people maybe didnt put the effort in that they would have if known fron the start it was graded. I got a B so was happy with that.
Athough i,m now thinking it was a bit of a waste of time as i,m now doing the NVQ anyway. We were lead to believe that it was the same as it was a level 3 but it is only recognised for providing home based care although people were told it would be recognised the same as the NVQ but you cant use it to get a job anywhere else which is why i am now doing the NVQ so if i ever want to move to a nursery or something then i can. If you intend only to do childminding then the DHC is ok and it does help with obs and stuff.
A childminder friend of mine is doing the Foundation Degree I dont think i would put myself through that to still only be able to charge the same money at the end of it!!

Hi Jellybean,
Ive just put a post about needing help with refrences with mine i am fine with the actual assignments just finding the information to refrence everything to.

I also bought the book and its great it really explains what you need to do for each assignment as in the criterea they dont give you much to go on.
