Playing outdoors

Post  kreid on Sun Feb 07, 2010 10:57 pm

Hi everyone, one of my mums has come to me asking if i will allow her son to play outdoors with the other children from his class who live nearby afterschool. As i have other children to look after it is not always possible for me to take hime out to play. She has said that she is happy for him to go out alone, so long as he comes back when I ask him to. Does anyone else let their minded children out to play so that they are out of sight, if so do you have a policy on this and get the parents to sign a form to say that they are allowing this. Any advice welcome.

Personally i would say no, as you are responsible for him and if he does not come back you cannot leave all the kids and find him, also if he has an accident you are liable and the insurance may not cover you if he is not on your premises, maybe its worth phoning OFsted and your insurance provider to see where you stand on this
Hope this helps Very Happy

Hi, Thanks

Took your advice and checked with the Scottish Childminding association. They have told me that is ok to let him out to play unsupervised as long as i have a signed letter from his mother stating that this is her wishes.
