I filled in an accident form obviously and also an incident form for the child that did it. When i told the parent who's child had the bump she wasnt very impressed as you can imagine, but worse because I follow nursery policy and mention no names she may well have gone thinking it was my son who did it, which it wasnt.
Foundation Degree???

I am just wondering if there are any childminders out there who have signed up for the graduate leader programme to do the foundation degree in early years and can tell me what they have done with it after graduating?

I am considering it at the moment but am unsure of what door it could open for me as my only experience of working with children is as a childminder and I dont really need a degree to do that as I am already doing it.

Any views or expereinces welcomed

I've now decided while my children are young I would like still be sahm and CM would help me do that along with 'keeping my hand in'. Also I've realised I much prefer the 'care' of the children than the 'supervision' iyswim.

Hey guys how are you all?

When a child leaves your setting for school or nursery do you give the parents things like their deveolpment records? And any observations? Or do we keep hold of them? I know pre-schools pass on their profile records for school. Do any of you use the profiles and if so where did you get it from?

From Sept I am a very busy bee and will be doing over 50 hrs a week, eeeek

Hi,

I haven't been on hear for ages & for that I apologise. I have just spoken to someone that has really confused me. When Ofsted did my visit they said that I could have 6 children but they would deduct 2 for my children leaving 4 spaces available. After having spoken to this person they said that the 4 places were for my 2 children + 2 mindees

Can anyone please advise me if I am right?

Also one of the children I look after has red spots over her back and tummy, doctor says it might be pox... we don't have confirmation, but i think it is. My son is due to start school in sept so will obviously have a place available then as he will no longer count in my under 5s ratio, but to begin with I think they settle them in by doing mornings for a few weeks. I just wondered if i would need to apply for a variation so I can take on more children in sept for that few weeks where they may overlap? Im getting lots of calls for sept and dont want to tell them I cant start at beg of the new term because they will prob just go elsewhere. ...

I am currently trying to find an under 5 to fill a vacancy that I have from the end of May. I have had some interest, but for Mum's going back to work in September. If they want me to hold the place until then what retainer would you normally charge or would you take a non-refundable deposit instead?...I see the NCMA contracts suggest 50% retainer fee, is it reasonable to expect them to pay half for the next 3 months? I was wondering what other childminders do in this situation?

I am thinking of telling her that as long as my normal pay is covered by the days that she requests then I wouldn't ask for her normal ...
